Adaptive Reuse March 5, 2010
The Gibson-Taylor Renovation is taking shape.  This renovation and restoration project is the fifth renovation in the lifespan of a house originally designed for Dr. Shrum in 1929, the first Chancellor of UBC.  It was originally designed by Sharp and Thompson (who became Thompson Berwick and Pratt).

Our scope transforms the fourth renovation, a poorly articulated wing added in the 1980's, while restoring the traditional front and side elevations.  The final design marries minimal, modern detailing with the traditional expression of the original house.  The front elevation will remain unchanged; stealth modernism.
